Water Damage? The First 24 Hours Matter Most
Fast action in the first day limits the damage and the cost.
After a leak or flood, act fast. Shut off the water source if you safely can, cut power to affected areas, and start removing standing water and wet materials. Mold can begin growing within a day or two on damp drywall and carpet.
Photograph everything before you move things, for your insurance claim. Then bring in a restoration crew to dry the structure properly — surfaces that look dry can still hold moisture inside walls and subfloors.
